Wentworth Miller's casual approach to coming out as gay
The actor has snubbed a Russian film festival in protest at anti-gay laws. What do you make of his mode of coming out?
The actor Wentworth Miller has declined an invitation to the St Petersburg international film festival. In a letter, he explains that, as a gay man, he cannot accept the invitation, and goes on to explain that if Russia's treatment of people like him changes, he could make a different decision.
Miller chose to publicly mention his sexuality for the first time as part of a letter about a wider issue. Recently WWE wrestler Darren Young came out when asked by a paparazzi what his views were about gay wrestlers. Young replied: "Look at me. I'm a WWE superstar and to be honest with you, I'll tell you right now, I'm gay. And I'm happy. I'm very happy."
Is this more casual approach to talking about sexuality a sign that acceptance of LGBT people is growing? Tell us what you think about how to approach coming out.
